Monroe County Public Library Ellettsville Branch
The Monroe County Public Library, Ellettsville Branch Addition and Renovation project responds to current trends in best library practices and recognizes that libraries today serve many more demographic groups and functions than the traditional library. New spaces in the Branch include a new Teen Center, Infant/Pre-K Room, Program/Meeting Room, Conference Room, Reception Lobby, Kitchen, and ADA Restroom. Renovation areas include the entry lobby, service atrium, main collection area, study rooms, and adult reading area. There is a new heating, cooling, and ventilation system for the building.
The new Teen Center provides learning and activity spaces and furniture which encourage collaborative and independent learning. A gaming area, design center, collaborative learning zone, quiet reading space, and an informal lounge area accommodate teens in a variety of settings. Mobile furniture provides teens the opportunity to re-shape the space to their liking.
The new Infant/Pre-School Room includes age-appropriate furniture and activities as well as furniture for caregivers.
The new Program/Meeting Room accommodates 150 and may be divided into two separate areas with a moveable partition. A large reception area provides spill-out space for events.
The Adult Reading area includes new comfortable seating and a large bay window with views to the adjacent park.
